ACC Hosts a Conference on Education in Benin (July 18, 2012)
On July 18, 2012, the American Cultural Center hosted a conference about the future of the education system in Benin. The conference was led by Professor Desire Baloubi, Chair of the Humanities Department at Shaw University in North Carolina.
In his welcome remarks, Public Affairs Officer Douglas E. Johnston said, “In the United States, our education system is continuously adapted and improved. Historically Benin has been a leader in West Africa, and this trend can and must be maintained in the field of education. The U.S. Mission will continue to support education and development in Benin.”
Over a hundred people attended the conference, including students, teachers, and government officials. After Dr. Baloubi’s presentation, attendees had the opportunity to pose questions to the speaker.
