U.S. Mission Celebrates Independence Day (June 30, 2012)
The U.S. Mission in Benin marked the 236th birthday of the United States of America with a lively celebration at the Chief of Mission residence. Attendees included Beninese government officials, American citizens, civil society partners, and members of the diplomatic corps.
In her welcoming remarks, Chargé d’Affaires Susan Tuller said, “Our Declaration of Independence guaranties certain unalienable rights, such as life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Our engagement with the rest of the world focuses on sharing these fundamental values. The U.S. Mission promotes political stability and economic development in Benin to permit all people to live the life they want and deserve.”
