Mission Contributes to Women’s Empowerment (Dec 16, 2011)

On Friday, December 16, Ambassador James Knight presided over the inauguration of two projects funded by the U.S. Government through the U.S. African Development Foundation (USADF), a fish processing plant in So Ava and a gari warehouse in Ze.

“The two projects will enable women to better conduct income-generating activities in order to escape the vicious circle of poverty and hunger,” said Ambassador Knight. His wife Amelia Knight and Economics Officer Yvon Accius also attended the inaugurations.

These projects were executed by the Regional Association of Atlantic Women Farmers - Littoral, an association founded in 2007 to promote the interests of women who produce, process, and market fish and agricultural products, especially cassava.
