American Cultural Center Hosts Education USA Fair (Sept 19, 2012)

Over 200 Beninese students attended an informational fair at the American Cultural Center on September 19, 2012 focused on high education opportunities in the United States. Several Americans shared their advice about selecting the right university, choosing a major, and preparing a strong application. Other presentations covered the TOEFL, financial aid options, and applying for a student visa.

The purpose of the fair was to encourage Beninese student to continue their studies in the United States in order to acquire skills that will help develop Benin. In his welcoming remarks, Ambassador Raynor noted that the United States also benefits from international students.

The presence of international students on campus enriches the academic and social experience for all students,” Ambassador Raynor said. “My son, who began his university studies in the United States a few weeks ago, is sharing a room with an international student. Forging a bond of friendship with someone from a different culture has already greatly enriched the value and enjoyment of the university experience for my son.”
