Visa Information

Inquiries and Non-Immigrant Visa Applications are accepted on Monday - Tuesday 8:30 - 12:30, Wednesday 8:30 to 12:30, 13:30 - 16:30, and Friday 8:00 - 11:00.

Tuesdays and Wednesdays are interview days for Immigrant Visas.

Non-Immigrant visa interviews are held on Thursdays. Visas will be ready in most cases the following Monday afternoon at 16:00.

Visa Application Processing Fees

Effective January 1, 2008, the NIV application processing (MRV) fee changed to $131 (from $100) and, the IV application processing fee changed to $355 (from $335).

These fees are collected for all visas unless they are diplomatic or official in nature.

American Citizen Services

The American Citizen Services section of the Consular Section provides information and assistance to U.S. citizens in Benin. The Consular Section assists Americans living abroad with passport renewal, registration in the embassy’s warden system, lost or stolen passport replacement, the issuance of Consular Reports of Birth Abroad (CRBA) for children born in Benin to American citizens, notarial services, and emergency services to American citizens.  Information about voter registration, income tax forms, and additional passport pages may also be obtained.
