Overview of Information Services Provided by the Public Affairs Section/American Cultural Center

The daily Washington File provides timely and accurate information about the U.S. and its policies including texts of official statements and speeches, transcripts of press conferences and briefings, Congressional testimony, background and analytical articles, and interviews with key officials. The Washington File is produced in both French and English, and distributed to the Mission officers and the major media outlets for use and placement. Electronic Journals provide in-depth analysis of policy-related issues of mutual interest. The electronic Journals are distributed to key media contacts, government officials and policy makers, based on the topic.

     Embassy Television Network  and Teleconference Programs:
    (both voice-and-video or voice alone) enable American officials and experts to interact with their Beninese counterparts and/or the Beninese community, and exchange views and ideas to promote a better understanding of issues of mutual interest.

News programs in English: The Jim Lehrer NewsHour, a leading and comprehensive American news program, is shown to the public every Tuesday afternoon at 3:00 pm. Selected documentary programs taped from the Embassy Network Television feed are also shown to the public on Tuesday afternoon.
American  feature films in English and French: Selected American feature films in both English and French are shown to the public every Friday evening at 8:30 pm.
